About us

Ropewalk Farm is a vegetarian farm with many rare breed animals including, our Whiteface Dartmoor sheep.  They have beautiful golden curly fleeces which make the most luxurious vegetarian fleeces, vegetarian fleece stoals, vegetarian fleece waistcoats and vegetarian fleece seat pads.  None of our sheep have been harmed, and they are still munching away on the grass in our fields.  We don’t use any chemicals on our farm, so their fleeces are as natural as can be.

Our story

We bought Ropewalk Farm eight years ago and took our first intrepid steps into farm life, introducing rare breed Whiteface Dartmoor ewes into our growing family. Six months later, it was lambing time and we were blessed to find that our new neighbour and guardian angel had grown up on Dartmoor and was quite the shepherdess!  As guardian angels do, she guided me through the first years of lambing and taught me much.  Hunkering down with me in the barn on cold March evenings as the Mama Ewe would start pawing the ground and showing signs of labour.  The very first lamb to arrive at Ropewalk Farm was Jolly.

I have become increasingly fascinated with sheep, I can sit and watch them for hours, it's so peaceful and therapeutic-nourishment for the soul.  One will wander over for a cuddle and a scratch and then carry on their way sampling the next bit of tasty green sward that they can find.  As the years have passed, I have become great friends with my flock.  I can see the similarities between the babies and their parents, both in behaviours and looks.  Sheep love is contagious and sheep bathing has become a popular pastime in our household!

It is such a joy to work with their fleeces and turn them into beautiful creations that can be a finishing piece to make a room look fabulous.
